Sometimes All That Glitters is Not Gold

Gold Apple

Precious Apple

Hands up if you want the latest iPhone from Apple.

Us too, but what we really want is a shiny white gold model camouflaged in diamonds.

This phone will successfully draw attention to the intense conversations we have while cruising the Sunset Strip in our gold DeLorean.

Women Love it

The latest in ridiculously over-extravagant bling, this is the priciest iPhone ever. Which means it might actually be able to land you a girlfriend or two.

We’re taking bets on which celebrity we’ll see with it first.

iPhone Princess Plus

The Precious Metals

The Princess Plus iPhone was designed by Peter Aloisson and is made of 18K white gold, with a rhodium trim.

Rhodium is the rarest and priciest precious metal of them all, held in esteem for it’s hardness properties and mirror-like shine.

The Sparkle

The frame is encrusted with a grand total of 318 high quality diamonds, 138 princess cut and 180 brilliant cut.

That’s around 17 carats worth of diamonds

The quality of the diamonds should be noted too. Their standard is high, so they have to be handpicked for clarity and color.

The stones on your next iPhone are

  • F color specimens, which are used for their crystal whiteness
  • IF clarity diamonds, meaning they are internally flawless

100 Dollar Bill

The Damage

No big surprise that the price tag on this shiny is over-the-top too, €120,000 Euros (which is roughly $189,500.00 Dollars).

Plus they make it very clear on the site that this price does not include taxes, shipping, insurance, customs or duty costs.

Lets put that in perspective, the Value Added Tax alone is 20%, and that’s an extra $38,000

The Next Step Down

iPhone BrillianceEven the cheap version could earn you some street cred.

The iPhone Brilliants Only is similar in design and actually has more diamonds, a total of 347.

The catch is that the diamonds are all brilliant cut, none of that extra princess-cut sparkle on this disposable version.

With a much more affordable price tag of €45,000 Euros (that’s about $70,000 Dollars), you can afford to treat the family for Christmas this year.

A Few Questions

QuestionsWho doesn’t get hypnotized by that much sparkle?

Although we do have a few reservations, beyond the fact we would be afraid to pull it out in public without a bodyguard present.

1. If we had to change a dead battery, could the local Apple store handle the task?

The consensus is highly doubtful, those stores raise our blood pressure just walking past them.

2. Does all of this rare metal and diamonds around the phone have a dampening effect on cell signals?

A swanky phone is nothing if you are a walking dead zone.

Apple Cool

On the other hand, there are some Apple products we like to see with a little extra sparkle, and gold plating our favorite laptop is a great place to start.

We’re sure this little number would have no problem freeing us up a spur-of-the-moment appointment at the Apple store

Gold MacBook Pro'

Created by those clever guys over at Computer Choppers, the gold MacBook comes in the plain version, or the heavy duty diamond version and they offer their plating service in yellow, white and rose gold.

We are holding our breath to see the platinum version, a platinum MacBook Pro really curls our toes.

We’d probably go blue in the face waiting for a rhodium version, but if we find one we’ll keep you posted.

Lucky Guy

The Ultimate Goal

In the end, almost any of these options runs the risk of making you a prime target and subsequently a hermit.

We’re not too proud to admit that if someone insisted on giving us any of the above bling, we’d turn into Gollum and obsess over it, then hire that bodyguard.

Especially now that gold has become such a worthy investment.

Here’s hoping the price of gold will continue to grow…my precious.
